(Jalisco) Statement of the Community of San Lorenzo Azqueltan, Municipality of Villa Guerrero

The autonomous Indigenous community of San Lorenzo Azqueltan, municipality of Villa Guerrero, Jalisco, gives you all a cordial and warm embrace. You are all welcome. Feel as if you are in your own home.

As you all know, an Indigenous community is of everyone. Today, April 25th, 2018, we are gathering here with pain, despair and anger to inform the country and world—to all our Indigenous brothers and sisters—that in our community we have been dispossessed from our territory, culture, tradition. We are suffering aggressions, threats, disappearances by those they call small landholders and the municipal government. We are sure we are struggling for our mother earth, according to the dictates of our vice regal title delivered in 1733 by the Spanish Crown.

We demand all the levels of government to stop the threats, aggressions and disappearances against the autonomous lands of the Indigenous peoples of the country and world.

From the Indigenous community of San Lorenzo Azqueltan, we thank the CNI, EZLN and CIG.

Never more a Mexico without us!
