Brothers and Sisters,
We are indigenous Tojolabales, campesinxs that work the land, ejiditarixs, men, women, and children of the ejido Guadalupe Victoria municipality of Altamirano Chiapas.
To you we denounce the following:
May 2, we publically denounced what happened on April 26th, when ex-ejiditarixs took possession of our ejido.
May 4th, at 8am in the morning all of the ejiditarixs and their children went to tell the ex-ejiditarixs to leave in a peaceful manner, without aggression, where they were in possession of the land. They said to us that they weren’t there to stay, just to press the government and at five in the afternoon of that same day, they left. However, we heard them say that when we leave to the city any of our ejiditarixs they find would be attacked. They also said they are supported by the government along with the organization CIOAC that belongs to C. Gerardo Perez Agueda.
Antecedents:
May 3, 1994, the ex-ejiditarixs decided to voluntarily abandon the ejido in fear of the armed conflict of the EZLN because they were stuck with the casiques that they sent into the ejido.
For the above reasons we demand:
- respect of our autonomy and auto-determination as indigenous Tojolabal people as well as respect for our rules of procedure as an ejido.
- that the ex-ejiditarixs of 1994, lead by PRIISTA casiques no longer invade our ejido
- we demand that the government not support those ex-ejiditarixs so as to avoid confrontation
The land is worked and defended!
