The Space of Struggle, Semilla Digna, Reports Harassment Against Their Communities

To the media

To the national and international defenders of human rights

To the national and international adherents of the Sixth Declaration

To the National Indigenous Congress

To the national and international civil society

To the Zapatista Army of National Liberation

Compañeras and compañeros, we are the space of struggle Semilla Digna. We are made up of various communities from the highlands of Chiapas, adherents of the Sixth Declarations of the Lacandona Jungle and participants in the National Indigenous Congress. We specifically come from the communities of Candelaria el Alto and the community of Cruztón, both of the municipality of Venustiano Carranza.

We report that in the community of Cruztón, since September 24th, a group from Nuevo Guadalupe Victoria of the same municipality of Venustiano Carranza has threatened us. We are living through a very tense situation as we have received threats of their entrance into our community to attack us. Like they did on May 22, 2017. We are worried for the physical, moral and psychological well being of our families.

We also report that in the community of Candelaria el Alto, on September 25th, a helicopter was hovering over the site Desengaño throughout the day. Hours later, we received a notice of a possible eviction of our community on part of the police. Furthermore, we report the presence of police trucks with approximately 300 police in the entrance of Cascajal. It is worth mentioning that a negotiating table has existed since 2013, between various organizations accompanied by human rights centers, to resolve the territorial conflict.

We name responsible the three levels of bad government for whatever violence is carried out in the community of Candelaria el Alto and Cruztón in the municipality of Venustiano Carranza; those who pertain to the space of struggle, Semilla Digna, adherents of the Sixth Declaration of the Lacandona Jungle and the National Indigenous Congress.

We ask that national and international civil society, the national and international Sixth, the alternative media and the CNI to be alert. As Semilla Digna, we search for peace and justice. We demand the end to the violence in all of the communities.

Never more a Mexico without us!
