(Oaxaca) Representative of the Victims of Nochixtlán Found Showing Signs of Torture

Amid a hostile environment, the municipal authorities of Nochixtlán tried to remove the evidence of state repression that occurred on June 19, 2016 that left 8 people murdered and hundreds injured.  President of the Committee of Victims of Nochixtlán (COVIC), Santiago Ambrosio was found bound with tape, beaten and severely injured.

We are releasing this brief statement:

The Committee of Victims for Truth and Justice June 19  (COVIC) notifies social organizations, NGO’s, independent media from Section XXII, and the Coordinador Nacional De Trabajadores de la Educacion (CNTE): At approximately 1 in the morning the President of COVIC, Santiago Ambrocio was found in his room with his hands and mouth tied up in an attack on his life, showing injuries to his body and signs of torture with cuts on his back and arm.  At this moment he is in poor health and because of this we demand that the corresponding agencies investigate and punish those responsible for this cowardice act.
