Leader of Indigenous Education of Section 22 of the SNTE Assassinated in Oaxaca

Calixto Pedro Guillermo, General Secretary of the Delegation D-I-221 of Indigenous Education of Section 22 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE-CNTE), was assassinated in San Juan Guichicovi, Oaxaca, last Sunday night with wounds from a machete.

In the face of the assassination, the Matías Romero division of Section 22 organized a mobilization to demand the government of Alejandro Murat clarify the “cowardly and devious” crime.

The command of Palomares said that the acts occurred at approximately 9:30, in the region of Istmo de Tehuantepec, when a man approached the professor and his wife, threatening to kill them. Afterwards the man attacked Pedro Guillermo.

The executive of the Section 22, furthermore, has demanded punishment to those responsible for the crime.
