Please receive a salute from the heart of the girls, boys, women, men, grandmother and grandfathers, habitants of the sacred forest of water (Bosque Sagrado de Agua)

We condemn the displacement, the forced displacement, the paramilitary violence, the incarcerations, the forced disappearances and assassinations, perpetrated and sponsored by the bad federal government, as well as the state and municipal governments, against the men and women of indigenous and campesino communities of our country.

We denounce the incarcerations and assassinations occurring in the community tzotzil-tzeltal of Bachajón, in the municipality of Chilón, in order to impose a resort in the biosphere of Cascadas de Agua Azul, comprised of the highway from San Cristobal to Palenque and the expansion of the Palenque airport. We demand the immediate and unconditional liberty of Santiago Péper, Emilio Jiménez Gómez and Esteben Gómez Jiménez.

The community of San Isidro Los Laureles in the municipality of Venustiano Carranza, has made the decision to recuperate around 165 hectares of land: “three peaks”, “the joys”, and “the refuge”. We say to our brothers and sisters, they are entitled to recover their ancestral territories, which they have worked for generations, as pronounced in the convention 169 on Independent Indigenous and Tribal Peoples of the International Organization of Labor, of the right to self-determination of the people.

The organization of civil society, La Abejas en Acteal, in the municipality of Ch’enalvó, has been constantly harassed due to their work for autonomy. Three comrades were ambushed on December 29, 2015 by a paramilitary group in the community of San Joaquin, municipality of Pantelhó, adding to the attacks in the same area where Manuel López Pérez was assassinated. The blood of our brothers and sisters of Acteal of that December 22, 1997, covered the whole world in mourning. The thirst for justice of our people is flowing water that keeps our hearts moist.

In the same way, our bothers and sisters of the municipality of Tila, decided to regain the autonomy of their ejido, that is, their right to govern themselves, from here, we salute their path toward autonomy and freedom.

These are just some of the struggles in Chiapas, but not all. While we can’t speak to all of them, we salute each girl, boy, woman, man, grandmother and grandfather, that with dignity and love, struggle for their people and their territory.

We have left our community to report that Enrique Peña Nieto and the company Teya S. A. of C.V., members of the Grupo Higa of Armando Hinojosa Cantú, by illegal expropriation, wants to impose a highway project, named highway Toluca-Naucalpan. With this project, they will devastate 3,900,000 square meters of sacred forest, of which, the women and men of the communities of San Francisco Xochicuautla, La Conceptión Xochicuatla, San Lorenzo Huitzizilapan, Santa María Tlalmimiilolpan, Santa Cruz Ayotuxco, and San Francisco Ayotuxco, have been guardians, for thousands of years.

Likewise, we denounce the ongoing state repression against our community. To date, ten women and twelve men who were incarcerated have regained their liberty, with the support and solidarity of our brothers and sisters of Mexico and the world. The persecution, harassment, assaults, death threats and defamation against the most visible defenders of the sacred forest, has obligated us to denounce the constant violation of our most basic human rights, which has been echoed by independent organizations.

Our community has been besieged on various occasions, by more than a thousand riot police to stop us from carrying out our assemblies of uses and customs. The federal government of Peña Nieto, as well as the state of Eruviel Ávila, have no legal argument to invade and work in our territory.

Since 2006 when they initiated the offensive against our territory, we have never given them permission for these projects, and neither have we been consulted—a requirement according to the constitution and international treaties of which Mexico has signed.

We obtained the favorable sentence of protection, and with these resolutions, the company must stop the highway project; however, that has not occurred. The state violated, and is in contempt, and is partial with its own laws; it is evident that in Mexico, the businesses and those that accumulate wealth, shape and twist the laws to legalize their spoils.

We call upon indigenous, campesino, student, teacher, feminist and other social organizations, the collectives of Mexico and the world, to speak out against ecocide in San Francisco Xochicuautla.

Long live the history and dignity of our Indigenous peoples and campesinos.

Respect to the autonomy and the decision of the people.

Liberty to the political prisoners.

There is no justice in stolen land.
