Declaration of Maximum Alert From the CNI, Over the Situations in San Francisco Xochicuautla and Santa María Ostula

To the people of the world

To the alternative media

Against the cowardly betrayal of the Ñatho indigenous community of San Francisco Xochicuautla, municipality of Lerma in the state of Mexico to impose the highway project Toluca-Naucalpan, and the attack suffered by the community police of Ostula, municipality of Aquila, Michoacán, as the National Indigenous Congress (CNI) we declare a maximum alert and call the people, organizations, and those in solidarity to be attentive to the situation and follow the call made by the community of Xochicuautla.

We denounce that:

Monday, April 11, around nine in the morning more than 1000 state police of the State Commission of Citizen Security (CES) and the Forces of Action and Reaction (FAR) began to arrive, entered from three sides the community, the neighborhood of Buenavista, from the street Cuahtémoc to get to the places known as “Lampeni” and and “Lapondishi” where the Encampment of Peace and Dignified Resistance was located and subsequently destroyed.

In the location “Lampeni” the compañero Armando García Salazar’s house was located, uncle of David Ruíz García, delegate of the National Indigenous Congress and assistant to the exchange between the CNI and the EZLN in August of 2014 that took place in La Realidad Zapatista. Inside of the house around 25 people gathered to defend the property, the majority women, and were violently evicted, pushing and pulling the compañera Isabel Hernandez, 64, who is part of the Supreme Indigenous Council who at the time was holding a child in her arms.

Members of the police handed Armando a paper, which informed him that his house was federal property and they would have it destroyed. They also showed him the expropriation decree, which the community had recently won an injunction against.

Without more words they forcefully removed those that were inside the house, who took what belongings they could that were on the first floor, leaving inside documents, clothes and construction tools.

Against the bad government had demonstrated that the laws that they say they represent or the supposed rule of law is nothing more than tools of dispossession that they follow only when they are against the people. The dispossession and repression violated the injunctions of suspension 1123/2015 and 771/2015 that were granted on February 18th, 2016 and that the judge had notified the majority of the authorities February 23, including SAASCAEM, that is the institution which was granted the territory of Xochicuautla in the expropriation decree.

While durig the night of the past Sunday, April 10, compañeros of the community police of Santa María Ostula, in San Juan de Alima, Mochoacán, were attacked when a passing automobile assassinated the comunero Francisco Grajeda and shot another comunero Abraham Girón, who is also commissioner of the community for the National Indigenous Congress (CNI) and participant in the exchange carried out in La Realidad Zapatista.

We denounce the attempt by the bad government to play down this crime by seeking to encourage the return of violence in the region of the Sierra Costa of Michoacán and again putting the natural resources, singnity and peace in the region in the hands of narco-politics, their paramilitaries, hit men, and businesses.

We call on the people of Mexico and the world for urgent solidarity with the actions in defense of the rights of San Francisco Xochicuautla, physically assisting the community, mobilizing wherever you are located to denounce and demand the cease of aggression against the community, their territory, and the comuneros.

We name Eruviel Avila Villegas and his boss Enrique Peña Nieto responsible for the integrity of our compañeros and those who sympathize with the dignified struggle.

For the integral recognition of our peoples

Never more a Mexico without us
