To the Community of San Juan Petlapa, Oaxaca
To the Chinanteco People
To the People of Mexico
To the Media
The National Indigenous Congress and the Indigenous Governing Council assert our respect for the Indigenous peoples of our country to decide how they name their authorities. Particularly in the state of Oaxaca, we recognize the authorities elected by uses and customs in the municipality of San Juan Petlapa in the Chinanteca region.
We denounce the attempts by the businessmen, bad governments and PRI shock groups to impose authorities that serve the interests of capitalist dispossession by green-lighting infrastructure projects that facilitate the plundering of the territory of the Chinanteco people, their biodiversity, water and sacred spaces.
We hold responsible the businessman, Agustin López Pascual, and his candidate, Joaquín Pura Estrada. We also hold responsible the bad government of the state of Oaxaca who is responsible for the discord and division they have dedicated themselves to planting in San Juan Petlapa. We know that the capitalists are experts at planting hatred and confrontation in order to take advantage of and rob what belongs to the people.
To the Chinanteco people, to their resistance and rebellion against the megaprojects that the capitalists impose throughout their region, we reiterate our solidarity and respect. As the CNI-CIG, we will remain attentive to your struggle and dignity. We know you will prevail after the attempts by the powerful to exterminate you.
