Although above, the powerful continue selling off our homeland with whatever old or new face, below our blood and pain continues bathing this territory. Also, our resistance and rebellion.
We condemn the kidnapping and assassination of compañero Abraham Hernández González, member of the Committee in Defense of Indigenous Rights (CODEDI), in the town of Salchi, San Pedro Pochutla, Oaxaca. This was the result of an armed group, masked and dressed in military gear, entering the house of the compañero and taking him to an unknown location.
Sisters and brothers of CODEDI, as the Indigenous Government Council and the National Indigenous Congress, we are with you. We raise our voice to stop the harassment carried out by paramilitary groups against your dignified organization and the struggle of the people who are part of the organization.
We condemn the impunity and complicity that has existed at all levels of government in the crimes against those who defend the earth and the natural resources against capitalist ambition. This was the case of the assassination of Bety Cariño, Jyri Jaakkola and many others.
