Armed Attack on Communities of the Popular Indigenous Council of Guerrero – Emiliano Zapata (CIPOG-EZ.)

Urgent: 20 JULY, 2019

Late Saturday night, July 20, 2019, the Popular Indigenous Council of Guerrero – Emiliano Zapata reported that several armed commandos of the narco-paramilitary group “Ardillos” besieged the community of Tula, Guerrero, Mexico. They have been under armed attack for several hours and the shooting has not stopped. At this moment we do not know the number of brothers and sisters injured or killed.

We therefore urge local, state and federal authorities to intervene immediately to prevent a massacre. We ask national and international solidarity organizations and human rights defenders to demand that the Mexican state intervene immediately to prevent a massacre against our Nahua indigenous brothers and sisters in the community of Tula.

Yours sincerely:

Popular Indigenous Council of Guerrero – Emiliano Zapata.
